Spotlight - Getting to know one of our agents beyond the desk

In this interview, we sit down with Anna Rice to learn more about her role at Travers Aviation Insurance and what drives her day to day work. Through a mix of professional insights and lighthearted questions, Anna shares what she loves about the industry, her aviation experiences, and a few personal favorites beyond the office.
What is your role at Travers Aviation Insurance?
As VP of Sales, my role is focused on building and maintaining relationships with aircraft owners, operators, and aviation businesses, while also working closely with the aviation underwriters to ensure we’re delivering risk solutions that fit the needs of our clients.
Most rewarding part of your job?
Helping clients protect something they are genuinely passionate about and making the process simple and straight forward.
What is your favorite aviation event or airshow?
Sun N Fun is my favorite. It is a great airshow but smaller and more relaxed than Oshkosh.
Favorite airport snack or travel tradition?
The professional response would be a good coffee, but I do love a stop at an airport wine bar.
What is your personal "dream plane"?
I’ll dream big-Gulfstream. Any model would work.
Most interesting latest technology advancements to an aircraft?
The advances they continue to make with avionics. The introduction of Autoland and real time data for weather and collision awareness continue to make general aviation safer for everyone.
First Class non stop flight or Private Charter with stops to your dream vacation?
Private Charter no question. Once you experience the convenience and adventure of traveling in a private aircraft you will never want to find yourself in the TSA line again.
Would you rather fly front seat watching the pilot operate the plane or in the back seat with a cocktail?
Honestly, I like both. The front is awesome but if you are with a group the back can be pretty fun too.
What is something that still surprises you about this industry?
How innovative it continues to be. I’m always surprised by the new things being introduced to the industry. Everything from new avionics to eVTOLs.

Cold Weather Preflight Essentials Pilots Should Never Skip
Winter flying demands a more deliberate preflight routine, as cold temperatures introduce risks that are easy to overlook.
Ice and frost can form even on clear days, making a full inspection of your aircraft critical before departure. Control surfaces should move freely without any stiffness, and any snow and slush should be completely removed.
Cold weather can be especially hard on aircraft systems. Oil viscosity increases in low temperatures, so checking proper oil type and quantity is essential. Checking your electrical system is smart too, as batteries lose efficiency in the cold. Pitot Tubes, static ports, and vents should be clear of ice and moisture to avoid unreliable instrument readings after takeoff.
Tires, breaks, and landing gear also need extra attention in Winter. Cold air can reduce tire pressure, while frozen brakes or moisture in wheel assemblies can create problems during taxi and landing. Taking a few minutes more on a Winter preflight can help prevent delays and issues for your aircraft.
