What Aircraft Owners are Buying in 2026
Buying an aircraft is a major decision driven by mission and efficiency.
According to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), the United States delivered around 2,300 aircraft in 2025 including:
- 1,290 piston aircraft
- 446 turboprops
- 1,026 turbine aircraft
This is only a snippet of the wide variety of aircraft in today's market and the continued demand that spills over into this year. (GAMA Annual Report)
With a blend of versatility, increased range, and a generous payload capacity, single engine turboprops remain a popular choice among owners in 2026. Airplanes such as the Pilatus PC-12, TBM 960, and Kodiak 100/900 appeal to pilots who require this level of performance. These models also grant operators access to a much wider range of airports.
High performance piston aircraft are also attracting buyers that want modern safety features and advance avionics without transitioning into turbine ownership. Cirrus Aircraft reported strong 2025 deliveries of their SR Series and Vision Jet, showing continued demand for personal-modern aircraft. Other models like the Diamond DA40/DA50 and Piper M350 also remain popular options for pilots and owners.
Ownership needs and aircraft values are constantly evolving. Choosing the right aircraft is only one small step of the ownership process. Taking the time to evaluate factors like pilot experience, mission profile, and insurance requirements can help owners make confident and well informed purchasing decisions.
